Alcohol addiction part of my lifetime
Hi! My name is Rafał, and I am an… well, I believe I used to be addicted to alcohol...
...does that mean I’m no longer an addict?
I don’t know for certain, but today I am sober, with a strong resolve not to reach for anything harmful, including alcohol. Will I be sober tomorrow? Well, it depands. As long as I take care of the here and now and focus on WHAT I AM in the moment, I don’t worry about breaking my sobriety. In fact, I don’t worry about anything. And there’s not a trace of arrogance or ignorance in that—just respect for laws far greater than the 74 kilograms of this human body, including 1,4 kg of the barin :)…
Why did I fall into alcohol addiction?
…to cut the story short (which, to be honest is quite a challenge for me:)), I failed to dedicate enough care and attention to maintaining my internal “SvD-Supply vs. Demand balance”.
The external demand placed upon me far exceeded my internal capacity to navigate the daily challenges of life—both in my personal journey, weighed down by guilt and shame, and within the corporate business world, fuelled by perfectionism and the relentless pursuit of overachievement.
I promised to keep it brief 🙂 Yet, in truth, the deficits requiring deep, intentional work turned out to be far greater than I initially realised. These, I explore in greater detail throughout the book “Alcohol Free & New Me”.
With the subconscious assumption that, since I couldn’t significantly influence what was happening externally, I would instead change my perception—or better yet, completely ‘shut off’ any perception from within—alcohol fit perfectly into this approach…
- My conscious mind wanted to quit drinking, but my body and inner self had a different opinion
- Countless promises and heartfelt declarations failed me
- The growing list of drinking consequences and the devastation it caused in my career, health, and spiritual life seemed to make no difference
- Therapies provided knowledge, but that only fuelled endless overthinking and intellectualisation
Sounds all too familiar and painfully harsh, doesn’t it?
Today, I want to introduce myself to you as a sober, personal recovery coach
- A conscious father to two sons—a 12-year-old and a 25-year-old
- An enthusiast of long walks, swimming, cycling, and skiing
- A bookworm with an incurable case of eternal student syndrome
- An ambassador of soft skills in every area of life
- Nurturing a passion for writing and designing websites like this one
- A dude who completely cut ties with the paradigm of being religious, opting instead for spirituality powered by higher consciousness
I truly was THERE…I went through complete self-destruction in abusive drinking, with no indication at all that it was even possible, that I could ever escape it…
I’m HERE and NOW for YOU, —not because I’m wiser, but perhaps just a little more ‘scarred.’ Or maybe not! What drives my wholehearted passion for what I do is a deep conviction: alcohol addiction is not a life sentence. It’s a profound lesson life offers us—a chance to grow, to become better, in the truest sense of the word.
What we choose to do with the ‘lecture’ this lesson gives us is a matter of personal choice and free will—not sheer willpower. Willpower has failed me many times before.
I imagine that since we’ve crossed paths here, this lesson may have reached you as well...
There’s one more thing I’m deeply convinced of and wholeheartedly believe in—the truly UNLIMITED potential within each of us, the potential for transformation. I can’t offer better proof of this than my own journey, viewed through the lens of hindsight, and that’s precisely what I wish to share with you.
It would be my honour to explore this potential with you and to celebrate, together, the incredible discoveries you will make along the way
It’s a process. Together, it’s not only more encouraging but also far more effective. “As human beings, we are neither rocks nor islands”, and certainly not deserted islands—especially when it comes to the battle with addiction
Each day of sobriety is a day worth leaving
Stepping out of the shadow of alcohol addiction is possible...
Your UNIQUENESS is the key currency of your future and the foundation of who you can become—free from addiction for good, and without regret
Nobody wants to be the ‘hamster on the wheel’ of their addiction, right? So, what now?
Take a moment to explore the way I work and the principles I prioritise in collaboration. I also recommend diving into my articles—and especially my book once will be released. Together, they will give you a comprehensive glimpse into the range of support I offer.
This will allow you to get to know me better right from the start—my DNA as a former addict, now extending a helping hand as a coach. If something in particular catches your attention, I trust it will create a space for me to get to know You as well.
